About Professor Martin Liu
Martin Liu is a traditional Chinese medicine doctor registered with the Victorian Chinese Medicine Registration Board. Before arriving in Australia, he was a senior research fellow of Beijing Acupuncture & Meridian Research Institute, and a part time professor in the TCM department of Ji Lin Medical University
After graduation from the Air Force Medical University in 1982, he obtained degrees from the Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Institute of Acupuncture and Beijing Xinhua University Chinese Medicine Department.
Dr Liu researched Chinese medicine, acupuncture, massage and pain treatment for nearly 30 years. He obtained 2 state awards, and one international award for his work, which included research on the use of acupuncture and massage to treat arthritis in the knee, acupuncture treatment of soft tissue injury, and Chinese medicine treatment of frozen shoulder.
In 1984, due to noteworthy results in his work, he was appointed by the government to the post of Chinese medical specialist for high-ranking Chinese leaders, including He Chang Gong and former defence minister Chi Hao Tian.
